The "pre" meeting (starting 5:00 P.M. - registration at 4:45)
Interfacing between Windows Applications using WinBatch

Have you ever wanted to automate all or part of a Windows application?  Have you ever wanted to interface or communicate between Windows applications?  Have you ever needed information from the AS/400 automatically returned to and inserted into a Windows application?

If the answer is yes, or if you would just like to hear more, then attend LISUG's next pre-session meeting on "Automating and Interfacing between Windows Applications using WinBatch", presented by Bob Presser (a LISUG member).

WinBatch is a relatively inexpensive complete programming language, which can enable a programmer to perform a myriad of tasks.  We are sure that this presentation will open your eyes to endless possibilities of improving computer applications for your company or clients.

Bob can be reached at RPresser@odysseydata.com

The "regular" meeting (after-dinner topics)
New V5R3 security options (SSO, EIM, ...)

In V5R2 and enhanced in V5R3 of i5/OS, iSeries announced support for Single Sign-On (SSO).  In this presentation, we will discuss in details of what makes SSO work.  Starting with Network Authentication Service (OS/400's implementation of the Kerberos protocol) and progressing through the use of Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM), we will step through how iSeries Navigator implemented SSO.

Once that is complete, we will discuss what is needed to install/configure SSO at your workplace.  Finally, we will discuss the common problems encountered when implementing SSO and how to fix them.

Because Brian owns the Network Authentication Service implementation on the iSeries and also works as Level 3 for SSO customer issues, much of this pitch comes from "real world" examples.

Brian can be reached at krings@us.ibm.com.
