iSeries Announcements of V5R4 and Power 5 Plus hardware with our guest speaker,
Tracy Smith (an IBM 'Top Gun' from Rochester) to discuss what
the (new) i5 systems can do for your business. For example:
Find out about i5/OSŪ V5R4 - the latest release of the System i5 operating
system - and new solutions available to help grow your business.
- Server, storage, software and security built in to deliver a simplified
IT environment
- Runs multiple operating systems, enabling multiple applications on a
single platform and reducing management costs
- Virus-resistant architecture helps reduce risks and unscheduled downtime
- Legendary reliability helps keep focus on business instead of technology
Learn about the new Power 5+ architecture and the ability to connect
a Blade Center to the System i5 via iSCSI.
(Tracy will be 'officially' presenting the same material at IBM in Manhattan that morning)
Tracy can be reached at tasmith@us.ibm.com
The "regular" meeting (after-dinner topics)
Optimizing your business through SOA
This session describes the concepts and implementation of Service Oriented
Architecture (SOA) as it relates to the iSeries environment. Topics
include retrofitting or re-using existing applications and DB2 data in a
Service Component Architecture (SCA), exposing these resources as Web
Services, then automating and optimizing the business processes.
Because the iSeries is capable of running multiple operating systems, it is capable
of participating in multiple areas within the SOA infrastructure.
