System i IP Telephony

Presented by Mike Rousseaux, IBM System i Offering Manager Collaborative Technologies

Meeting will be held on September 13, 2006.

A significant shift in the technology of telephony is sweeping over the market as telephony meets the information age.  Just as surely as VHS tapes gave way to DVDs, traditional telephony will be replaced by IP telephony.

This shift is well underway with IP Telephony outselling traditional telephony for the first time in 2005.  Importantly, this transition from early adopters to mainstream is accompanied by the transition from proprietary solutions to those based on an open standard for telephony called SIP.  With this standard, IP Telephony promises more than just cost savings, it will be a platform for innovation with existing applications.

System i IP Telephony brings its heritage of reliability, security and support for open standards to provide our customers a differentiated choice versus today's market.
