Preparation for V6R1
Come hear Al Barsa discuss the necessity of properly preparing for V6R1.
Just like CISC-to-RISC and System/38 Migration, your programs, modules,
service programs and SQL packages require "creation data".
Creation data is very similar to, but slightly different from the notion of
"observability". V6R1 installation is just like any other new release,
but does not have special procedures like CISC-to-RISC.
It is essential that you download the PTFs to analyze your system and the
RedBook from IBM.
Al can be reached at barsa@barsaconsulting.com.
The "regular" meeting (after-dinner topics)
Implementing Open Security in i5/OS - ssh, scp and sftp
The ssh protocol is used throughout the Unix and Linux world as a way to securely transport
commands and files between systems over a non-secure network. In addition to standard
file and terminal functions, ssh can also be used to build secure tunnels through a network.
Since V5R3 ssh has been available for i5/OS as a no-charge LPO 5733-SC1.
In this session we will explain how to install and setup ssh, how to use ssh to
move data around the network, how ssh can be used to communicate with the HMC
and manage resources under program control.
